As I was traveling alone, and there were no other visitors at Fort Niagara when I first arrived, I had no easy method of illustrating scale when taking pictures of the hot shot furnace. Fortunately a large group of visitors from what I would imagine was some Asian land arrived later, which resulted in this young man, thankfully, approaching the furnace. While I don't think it would be racist to observe that, on average, folks from many Asian lands are shorter than many Americans, this gentleman was by no means a dwarf: Scale accomplished. Perhaps in the future I should make sure to travel with beautiful dwarves, so as to make the hot shot furnaces I visit seem heroically gargantuan in my photos.
