Admittedly, I purchased this magnet during my visit to Fort Pickens the previous year, when I thought I would also be visiting Fort Barrancas, but I did not. Regardless, this is obviously an older image of Fort Barrancas, as the Batería (misidentified as Fort San Carlos in this instance) is in its pre-1970's-restoration form...but most importantly, what is that monument on Fort Barrancas' parade? There's definitely no remnant of such a monument there now, and I've been unable to find any reference to it. Florida being a southern state, it's certainly within the realm of possibility that there was a Confederate monument erected there in the late 19th or early 20th century, when such monuments were popular things for white people in the southern United States to spend money on. Should anyone seeing this know anything about that monument, please let me know!! For the rest of you, thanks for visiting Fort Barrancas with me!
