Fort Caswell is owned by a Baptist organization which uses the extended fort grounds as a retreat and conference center. To the center right of this image you can see the fort itself, surrounded by several Endicott Period batteries, and a variety of modern buildings. To the left of this image, where one can see a diagonal path dredged in the swampy muck, is where Oak Island Lighthouse sits. That's where I parked, and I walked along the beach around the hump at the lower right, and infiltrated at the northeast corner of the island.
