The only downfall of Fort Frederica as it stands today, and the reason that I haven't featured it at Starforts.com until now despite frequent suggestions that I do so, is that there's very little fort there. There are a few remains of supporting structures, but this is mostly what you see at Fort Frederica. Once the Spanish threat from Florida was gone in the late 18th century and the English settled further inland, there was no need for Fort Frederica, and abandoned, it slowly withered away.

Fort Frederica does its best to make up for this lack of a demonstrable fort with a lot of really good (if frequently in need of restoration or replacement upon my visit in 2017) signing: Visible nearby are the signs Fort Frederica, Preserving Our Past for the Future and The World is My Parish.
