And pulling back, we see the bend in the Penobscot River that Fort Knox was built to defend: Behind us is the way to the ocean, to the right is the Eastern Channel that loops around Verona Island, and to the left the Penobscot continues on to Bangor and points north. AND THERE'S OUR HOTEL RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDDLE!!!
Our visit to Fort Knox was definitely one of my best starfort experiences, and a great memory of one of the last adventures I had with my sister, one of my favorite persons in the world, who passed away in January of 2017.
