It seems unlikely that anything made of wood, such as these doors at the entrance to the Citadel's center room, would have lasted since Fort Macomb's initial construction, but these doors were certainly old, and they were still doing their job. Of course they didn't do the job of keeping me out of the Citadel, but I'm an American. Surely they would have stopped, say, an Englishman from getting inside. Unless that Englishman walked around to the side of the Citadel and entered through the doorless entryway there.
