It must have been awkward to have the fort's Guardhouse in the same small building as the Commanding Officer's Quarters. Surely dudes would have been in and out of the Guardhouse at all hours, and they'd always be tippy-toeing around, lest they disturb their commanding officer.

Even as fed up with Francis Scott Key as I was by this point, this shelf unit in the Guardhouse that was used to store the different flags flown at Fort McHenry was quite charming indeed. Depending on the strength of the wind, the garrison flew one of two fifteen-star flags, one 17' x 25', the other 5' x 9'.
