Directly to the left inside the North Portal is this guardhouse. This was my first impression of the interior of Fort Mifflin, and I was distinctly underwhelmed. It was apparent, however, that the fort is at least occasionally used for overnights, likely by such organizations as the Boy Scouts of America: As such these would actually be living spaces, used by boys and young men under less-than-military discipline. Why would they clean up after themselves?
