The Artillery Shed's second floor is supported by huge granite monoliths, in order to store the unmounted cannon up there: A 42-pounder cannon did not weigh 42 pounds, but over four tons. Today, remnants of Fort Mifflin's previous lives are stored there, in the form of these heroic bits of wood.
