Three of these casemates are skinny, just about 7 feet wide, but still around 40 feet long. These were used at times for storage and as prison cells, and today mostly just house varying collections of detritus. In 1864, 216 Confederate POWs were imprisoned in these casemates, along with 55 Union deserters and 11 other "offenders."
