The reason we don't have much of a Fort Montgomery left today is the Rouses Point Bridge, which was built in the 1930's on piles of rubble which had previously been a bunch of Fort Montgomery. But don't be mad at this bridge, because this is not the Rouses Point Bridge! Well...it is a Rouses Point Bridge, but not the Rouses Point Bridge that ate Fort Montgomery's soul. This bridge was erected in the 1980's to replace the bad bridge. Maybe locals banded together and refused to drive over the original bridge, as it had been so immorally created? Doubtful.
