The British captured Fort Niagara on December 13, 1813, and they logially took a bunch of stuff with them upon leaving, when the Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812 on December 24, 1814. One such item was this flag, which remained in the ancestral home of Sir Gordon Drummond, the British officer responsible for the capture of the fort, until 1994, when the Old Fort Niagara Association purchased it.
