Some loose bricks on the citadel's walls prove to be more modern than the originals: The St. Joe Brick Works was founded in 1891, and still operates 40 miles up the Mississippi from New Orleans. St. Joe's purports to be the oldest brickmaker still making "colonial moulded face bricks using wood moulds," which sounds to me like they just never got around to upgrading to a modern system. It's kind of like me saying that I make my websites using only ancient html not because I'm lazy and don't want to learn how to become a modern webmaster, but because I'm all "historical." Which I am, but I'm also lazy.

Just kidding, St. Joe. Your bricks are lovely. Please don't sue me.
