Just because you're on the road leaving Fort Ticonderoga doesn't mean you're done seeing historic fortlike things! This is the Sandy Redoubt, which for some reason does not have any informational signing nearby, describing what the heck it's doing there, north and a little to the west of the fort. The French and British had various little redoubts sprinkled around Fort Ticonderoga, was this one of them, or is it just a Boy Scout project, similar to the Redan at Fort Frederick in Maryland? I bet you thought you were visiting this site because I knew the answers to these things! Well, I can usually find out, but in this case, I'm at a loss. If anyone who actually knows what's going on could pitch in on this one, I would appreciate it.
