US presidents Andrew Jackson and John Tyler both spent some quality time at Fort Calhoun, as Fort Wool was known at the time (click here to see a sign about this very phenomenon), but as tempting as it is to imagine that their most regal buttocks graced this chair, it is of course of a much too modern design. Is this a Second World War chair? Hopefully someone amongst all the folks reading this who have dual interests in both starforts and mid-20th-century American desk chair design will let us know.
