Fort Ligonier was built as a strongpoint of General John Forbes' protected advance through the wilds of Pennsylvania. How on earth had Forbes managed to get thousands of troops, tons of equipment and support personnel through this?!

Supply wagons, carts and artillery on the Forbes Road labored up steep and dangerous "cutbacks" on the faces of Allegheny and Laurel mountains. Hundreds of these vehicles traversed the road heavily laden with supplies for Fort Ligonier."
