A brief trail leads south from the chapel to the busy Highway 55, concluding at the western extent of the Fort Snelling-Mendota Bridge, completed in 1926 and today crumbling away in a genial fashion. Though surrounded by airport, highways and general urban action, this small verdant area manages to support at least one starfort deer...which was not impressed by me, and here regards me with the cool, casual wariness that only a starfort deer can pull off.
